In 1936, John McCluskey & Sons opened yards in Crown Street and Green Street Lane in Ayr - Dealing in Ropes, Chandlery and Government Surplus. McCluskey Equipment Supply Company has been trading tools and equipment throughout Ayrshire ever since.

Throughout this anniversary, we will continue to have special offers and deals in store, to mark 75 years of unbroken trade.

Over two kilos lighter than the original tool - the Paslode IM350+ allows for a lower actuation force. This, combined with a new non-slip soft grip handle, increases user comfort and reduces fatigue. In addition, a new five teeth aggressive nose probe can help tradesmen improve the quality of installations by ensuring easier access to any awkward angles.

FREE TRAINING FOR PASLODE AND SPIT USERS

ITW Construction Products, manufacturers of Paslode and Spit nailing tools are offering operator training sessions for all professional tradesman and contractors using their Gas or PAT Nailing Systems. The free sessions provide on-site training and certification in the safe use and maintenance of all the company's fastening systems.

Trainers throughout the UK and Ireland train and certify around 14,000 contractors a year, helping to maintain standards and keep users up to date with fastening systems and the latest tools. Any training certification is valid for two years, after which a refresher course must be taken.

The on-site training sessions also ensure that employers meet the Provision And Use Of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), which stipulates that any equipment provided at work, must be used only by people who have received adequate information, instruction and training.

CT1 The Ultimate Marine Sealant

There has been a phenomenal break through in the use of marine sealants recently. Historically there have been various types of sealants deemed to be marine sealants all with specific applications.

Some needed to be flexible, others not.

Some paintable, resist saltwater or fungus to name only a few.

However all of the marine sealants need clean dry surfaces to be applied on. So what was desperately needed was a marine sealant that could replace all sealants in one.

That could be applied on wet surfaces even underwater, resist fungal growth, stay good even after continued exposure to saltwater, also be paintable, remain flexible with a high resistance to UV and engine fuels.

10 Frequently Asked Questions1) What makes PowerSharp® saw chain different?The PowerSharp saw chain has three key features that make it different from all other saw chain.First, the cutters are top sharpening–sharpening down, not back – making it possible to sharpen them from the outside. Second, a diamond-coated dresser link “dresses” the sharpening stone, resurfacing it for optimum honing angles.Finally, the cutters work together with the depth gauges and guidance drive links to stabilize the cutter as it contacts the stone, delivering a precise and predictable sharpening process.2) How long does it take to sharpen a chain with the PowerSharp system?It takes as little as three seconds to sharpen the chain, although extreme dulling may require more sharpening. Sharpen for three to five seconds, and then make a test cut. Repeat sharpening ifnecessary.3) How many times can I sharpen the chain?The PowerSharp saw chain can be sharpened five to 15 times, depending on conditions.4) How long will the chain last?PowerSharp, like other OREGON® 3/8” pitch, low profile chain, delivers outstanding cutting speed and chain life.5) Can I sharpen the chain manually?No. The PowerSharp chain can only be sharpened with the bar-mount attachment. But why spend time sharpening saw chain manually when you can do it in seconds with the PowerSharp bar-mount sharpener?6) Can I use the bar-mount sharpener on other chains?No. Never attempt to sharpen other chains with the PowerSharp barmount sharpener. Damage to the chain and sharpener will occur.7) How do I know if my saw chain is dull?A sharp chain will cut large-size chips; a chain that is dull will create sawdust. It's time to sharpen when you have to push on the chain sawor the chain saw is no longer self-feeding.8) How do I set the depth gauges (riders)?In addition to sharpening the cutters, the sharpening stone grinds down the depth gauges to the correct height.9) Do I need special bar and chain oil?Standard bar and chain oil is fine for the PowerSharp system. We recommend OREGON® bar and chain oil, designed for all brands of chain saws. Formulated specifically for demanding chain saw applications, this oil protects your cutting system from excessivefriction damage.10) How often do I need to replace the stone?Replace the sharpening stone with every new saw chain. The two are packaged together to make it easier to remember to replace both atthe same time.
